- Bill enlisted in the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) on October 22, 1942.
- After retiring from the Air Force in 1965, Bill was a fisherman guide in the Florida Gulf Coast with his wooden cabin cruiser.
- Bill worked as a real estate professional for Jim Walton Realty and raised rabbits on his farm in 1967.
- In 1969, Bill bred and raised Charolais cattle in Lowell, Arkansas
- In 1970, Bill established Callahan Realty in Rogers, Arkansas
- In 1974, Bill became a Real Estate broker in Oklahoma and Missouri. He established Three Corners Realty which was located at the state lines of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri along highway 43.
- Bill worked for Bell Helicopter in Amarillo, Texas in 1978.
